This movie is Indistinguishable from a network TV show. Atrocious acting and writing. It’s like they didn’t even try. The amount of 5-stars here must be paid reviews. — Tubridy

What a beautiful message and powerful truth — luigi cobos

Problematic is an understatement
★★★★
This film rehearses white tropes about native peoples, and appropriates their stories and experiences of colonialist violence, relating them through a white lens. The tacked on ending message about gendered and racialized violence falls flat, especially considering the lack of voice or agency the film affords its Native actors, who have bit roles. When they do appear, it is in scenes of duress, including an explicit rape scene, for which there was no need, and which appeared to rehearse rather than critique violence against indigenous women. — Please do better#3

The Mountain is as Beautiful as it is Deadly
★★★★★
I kissed my children and hugged them as they slept after watching this film. I trek often in the backcountry skiing and understand the beauty of the mountains hides their danger. This was a well done movie. Great filming, superb acting by the entire cast, nicely edited, and excellent storyline. It’s disturbing subject matter, but the mountains warp not only the body, but also the mind. The mood was spot on. It’s also a sober reminder of a discarded culture; a once proud people left stranded. In these times, it’s apropos subject matter about violence directed at women -ironically, produced by Bob Weinstein. All around good movie. I am surprised it didn’t get more attention in theaters. — herebedragonsnyc

So sad and depressing
★★★★★
Such a sad portrait of how Indian women are treated because they are living on reservation land not associated with the government..It is sad also that since these women live on this land they aren’t counted in stats of missing women, because they aren’t on federal land. The men in this movie were straight pigs, lucky there are still some decent men around. — Trump girl

Best movie this decade
★★★★★
I went into Wind River with no idea what the film was about. It turned out to be a best-in-class snow-covered murder mystery, a neo-Western, and the best film I have seen this decade. If you can relate to the cold of a Wyoming winter, it makes the story that much more chilling. This film is increbily intense, and should be watched knowing that (not a party movie or a date movie). Superb directing, acting, cinematography, sound, score, et cetera. Great effort by Tayler Sheridan. A must-watch film. — UsMetriX

Wind River
★★★★★
This is the best movie I have seen in a very long time!! I watch many movies and most I enjoy even though they are just new arrangements of older movies! This was so new and riveting I had to buy it as it is worth watching more than one time, like reading a really good book and picking it up in a year to read again always finding something you missed the first time around!!! Judy H. — Judie76

Starts out with promise ...
★★★★★
... but rapidly degenerates into a convoluted mess with loose ends galore and caricature villians that are just not believable. Main villian, in particular, is just horrendously acted. It's really a 2.5 but I'll round up since it's Mr. Sheridan's directorial debut. — Mohammed Al-Tari

AWESOME MOVIE!!!
★★★★★
Murder Mystery and Jeremy Renner is an automatic Home Run. Really enjoyed this movie, and the ending did not dissapoint. — Macaluch

Really good
★★★★★
One of the best movies I've seen in quite a while. Elizabeth Olson was honestly amazing. Very believable in her role as an FBI Agent in a totally unexpected environment. Some gritty moments....from a gritty story. Not gratuitous. Watch this. You won't be disappointed. — CZT1

Awful movie. Terrible.
★★★★
I punished myself by watching this. Unbelievable and unrealistic. Horrible representation of Native people. They have endured a lot more than this bs plot, and are stronger than the mother portrayed here slashing her own wrists. The shoot out is retarded. Who comes up with this crap? I had high expectations for this movie to be dark, and an interesting crime story but provides very little. Spend your time more wisely and see something else. Is it just me, or is any old garbage getting 89% on rotten tomatoes??!! — Soundboutique

Solid Movie
★★★★
Enjoyable movie start to finish aside from the questionable gun standoff toward the end. Skip that scene and go straight into the scene where the character is shot through the door. Really enjoyed it though :) — ACESsiggy

Excellent
★★★★★
I do not easily give 5 stars, but this one earned it. Well-acted by the main cast and the supporting actors were most adequate. The movie deals with the brutal existence many Native Americans face on the reservations, but it doesn't get preachy or political. Instead, reservation life serves as a backdrop for a very good murder mystery. The plot is tightly wound and thought-provoking. It doesn't have a break-neck pace but instead clicks along realistically and allows viewers to fully savor each scene. The ending is powerful and somehow manages to be both satisfying and bittersweet. Highest recommendation. — Ugotta_B_Kidding

Very good story
★★★★
I thought this might be a little bit more predictable and then it ended up. Jeremy Renner did a fabulous job with his character and you really get absorbed into the atmosphere. — Craftygurl

Felt like I was watching the script reading practice
★★★★
Horrible acting. Horrible casting. Lead female was terrible - just terrible. You feel like you’re watching them do the first run through in every scene - only thing missing is each actor holding/looking at the script. At least they memorized their lines... — cpen90

More Hollywood Garbage
★★★★
Cozy up to the garbage buffet America! Great scenery mixed with with 2.5 people who can marginally act in this half witted “plot” capped of by a splurge of extreme hyper violence, which will satisfy the basest instincts of most bloodthirsty Americans who gorge on make believe violence and proclaim it as “entertainment”. Cap it all off with an eye for an eye ending and there you go ... moral depravity at its finest. Ya’ll all know it’s what you’d do if you, you know, you could. Stupid and disgusting. Junk movies showcasing violence like this have no place in our society anymore. — RRobinson37401

Great great movie! Watched over and over again, powerful delivered ! — Jackie Chris

Painful and sorrowful subject s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d o-u-t
★★★★★
The acting consisted of these vignettes strung together by a painful and sorrowful subject matter involving the senseless loss of loved ones. The story holds up well enough but is really stretched out making it rather sickening at times to deal with, exacerbated by the depiction of violence of an especially depraved and vicious nature. It does not surprise that it is supposedly based upon real events, but we fail to get a clearer understanding of what motivates the victim and brings the assailants to decay to such a degenerate level of moral turpitude. In the faintest of backgrounds the rape of the land by the fossil fuel industry is paralleled by the rape of the indigenous people corraled into a harsh and unrelenting environment. — Joe Buckstrap

Best movie of the year!

Totally captivating. Get ready for a wild ride. — Cebridgman

Weinstein Company. Are you kidding me
★★★★
I’m not gona get this movie for the sole reason that it’s a Weinstein Company movie. That pig does not deserve anybody’s money. He’s sick MF. The trailer look good tho — Steven898

Revenge Served Cold
★★★★★
The reaity of the raw underbelly of human failings spawned by bad decisions made by a teenager and grown men overcome by a kind of cabin fever all simmered in a pot of historical injustice defines this movie. But in the end, it is all about revenge and in thlis case revenge is a dish served cold, extremely cold. This is one of the few movies where the direction is so good you don't feel like its being directed. Never is there a moment in this film that you don't believe its all too real. No need to suspend belief to get the message of this film. Other directors can take a lesson of how to stay out of the way and let the story tell itself. A masterful job by Taylor Sheridan. — Storylvr

Well made movie. Watch it.
★★★★★
Moving, dark, fast action, deep emotion. Really makes you care about the characters, doesn’t hold back on viscera, doesn’t over do it. Great acting, realistic in almost every way. Not sure how loosely based on the true story it actually is, so can’t comment on that. Just taken as a stand-alone well-told story, it’s amazing. — Ibsf
