Action & Adventure
Was blown out of the water on this one. Thought the series was done and out of ideas, but no! Fantastic fun — That one Bloke1066
It's good, don't trust Rotten Tomatoes
We really enjoyed this movie... and we aren't fanboys — angel.co/bluebe
Don’t listen to the critics
I saw this movie in theaters, and it is much better than the previous movie. Comedy is better, interesting backstory on jack, and overall just a good movie. Hyped for the next installment. — SJSJSJSJSJS1
Turns Out Dead Men DO In Fact Tell Tales
Simply put, I've ALWAYS loved the Pirates series, and I was really excited when they announced this one and upon seeing it, I had a blast as always, it's chock full of great action and belly laughs as per usual, and there's ZOMBIE SHARKS this time around, I geeked out when they showed up. Johnny Depp is fantastic and hysterical as the iconic jack sparrow and Javier bardem is great as the villain, his presence always leaves an impact during his portrayals of various bad guys. anyway, I think it's tied with on stranger tides as my favorite pirates entry. — poopsy duffus
The Critics are Wrong!!
"Pirates of the Caribbean" has always been one of my favorite movies/franchises. Despite the critics' negative reviews, I loved it!! It was exciting to see some of the original characters make a return and I loved how they tied the new characters to the old. It really brought the entire series together. In addition to our beloved favorites, the new characters are fun and bring some freshness to the series. Henry is a dashing young hero much like Will, and Carina is an intelligent young heroine much like Elizabeth. Captain Salazar makes for a deliciously evil villain. If this really is the last installment, it was an amazing end to an amazing series. But if there are more "Pirates" to come, there is plenty of new material and characters to work with!! I would love to see a 6th!! — Little Miss Bri
Another great swashbuckling adventure!
Certainly an improvement over the last film! Critics got this one wrong, it's a blast to watch! — ReverseWings
Walk the plank
So first off very nice graphics with the sharks could not have looked better, very fresh. However the plot and movie...... what happened to jack sparrow. I don't feel like it's the same old silly jack in the last 3 movies and by 3 I mean, He was already starting to go down hill on the 4th one stranger tides. So either they are not paying him enough or he does not know how to be Jack anymore Johnny deep has to fix his act. So with that said let's talk about the plot boring, mostly talking, bland jokes, about maybe 4 action scenes that ain't all that great. I mean what ever happened to the pirates franchisee. So if Disney plans on making a 6th which I'm all for because like I said the first 3 were great get a new plot and fix Johnny's character. — topdog critic
I do not want to give any spoilers away, so I will just say that I thought the film was excellent! I rarely agree with the critics as I think they have lost the ability to just watch a movie and make a decision about it. I loved the film and hope this isn’t the last one! — nbvideo
I’ve always been a huge fan of these movies! I loved this one! It was definitely fantastic and I really hope they make another one!!!! — Dancer6896
not sure why it got panned...great fun — moonmycron
Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales
What a perfect movie to end the series with!!! I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! The writers did a fabulous job! Not only did they tie in the main characters, but also introduced new ones. I don't want to give anything away to those who have not seen it, but to those who have seen all the others, this IS a MUST SEE!!! I know I will get it for my library and watch it several more times!!! To get the full effect of this movie, and to see it at it's best, see it in a theater. At the very least on a hi def large TV to get the full effects. The only thing I will warn about is that the music is loud, but it does not over power the dialogue. There is one surprise that I have to go back and rewatch it for, but I am not going to spoil it for others by telling what it is. — Lindakmc2003
Awesome family movie
Watch this movie with family and we all had fun. About Pirates, myths, legends and stars. Gets the imagination going. — fmaylia
BEST MOVIE EVER
The movie really clears up all plot holes. It’s full of adventures and lots of humor it really is hilarious! Definitely my favorite movie — Pinnersm
Not great, not terrible
I was entertained, but thats all I went in expecting. Nothing magical, nothing special. I think the Rotten Tomatoes rating is a little low. — Rambo8649
The Critics are WRONG (Again!)
Why is it the movie critics (especially on Rotten Tomatoes), almost always gets it wrong? Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Men Tell No Tales is another example! What a great movie! Family friendly and it fun to watch! It did a great job of tying up all the loose ends and and at the same time providing a solid story line with action, adventure and some great stunts. Don’t listen to the critics! This is a must have movie for your Pirates of the Caribbean collection and you (like us) will no doubt watch it again and again! — Ronin64
It had its moments.
You could edit a pretty good 90 minute movie out of the 2+ hour film. — Tsinder
Way better than critics say
This movie is a blast - and believe me I am brutally honest. The opening was outstanding and the casting was spot on. I loved the continuance of the story and a lot of great, funny moments with awesome action. A great time to watch. — Charley9338
This is and of the best movies that I have ever seen — Coin Vader
Dead men can’t make a movie
This series is has gotten worse with each adaptation. Dead men tell no tales is the fifth and hopefully the last pirates movie, and is easily the worst in the whole series. Captain jack used to be this feared and witty pirate, but now he is just this dumb drunk who does things on accident. This movie had a ton of plot wholes and does not bring the piratey adventures the other movies brought. It was good to see will turner again tho for the 2 minutes he was on screen for. — Awesomemqn
Best Movie Ever
I saw the movie. I’m not going to spoil it if you haven’t seen it but it was amazing. It was my first one I have seen. I jumped 2 times. Not because I was scared. Just because it shocked me. — Horse 🐴 lover
best movie ever
this movie is beyond amazing! 5 star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! — JoelsSpacePrincesess
Not the best in the series but still fantastic!
I loved this movie, it was great seeing Will and Elizabeth again and their son! The only complaints I have are the plot holes, most of which can be easily explained. And Captain Jack being a complete idiot in this movie, but that is only for the first half, by the end he is the same old Jack we know and love. For anybody that's confused as to why jack acts like this it is because he has become a land pirate, making him miserable and down on his luck, causing him to be more drunk than usual. — Aragorn120
Wow. Very good , loved the ending, is and was everything you’d expect from p.o.t.c — Badassprelude
I like the whole Poseidon thing. Funny & exciting — Joek512
What a let-down.
Sorry folks. I loved all the previous installments of Pirates. This one just missed. I can't say exactly why, but it never really got it's hook into me the way the others did. Johnny Depp's physical acting was as good as ever, but the writers didn't deliver with his lines, and even he couldn't improv his way around them. It feels like he tried, but even he realized in the end, it was just going to be a paycheck. Captain Salazar just didn't have the presence of zombie Barbosa or Davey Jones. And the new kids failed spectacularly at taking the place of Bloom and Knightley as the straight-men to the assorted pirate kookiness. — Burphel
They know nothing Jon Snuh.. :)
Entertaining.. — Llewil
Time to abandon ship?
Ever since the second film in the POTC series, Dead Man's Chest, was released, this franchise has gone downhill rapidly in terms of storytelling and filmic quality. This latest installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (even the title of the film itself is overlong and bloated) only serves to prove that point. It is virtually indistinguishable from its predecessors; it has the same convoluted storyline, overlong running time, bland characters, crude humor/innuendos, and slapstick action that have become hallmarks of this series. Being a casual moviegoer who is rather swift to critique and point out the flaws in a movie, I found many of these attributes detracting from the overall quality and entertainment value of the film, though I suppose long-time fans of this series have come to accept these attributes, or perhaps even commend them. The only things I genuinely liked about this film were the solid visual effects (the greenscreen was occasionally quite noticable, but overall, the VFX hold up well) and the main villain, the undead Captain Salazar, played by the great Javier Bardem, who I thought was a very menacing and compelling character. Alas, those two standout highlights of the movie aren't enough to redeem this newest chapter in a long-sinking series. Perhaps it is time to let this decomposing franchise finally sink to the bottom of the filmmaking industry and tell no more tales. — realjohnlong
The end of this movie had me crying for all the right reasons. I love that Keira and Orlando came back...and the video after the credits shows us that Davy Jones is back. Number one movie!!! — Moviegal
I love the pirates series. The only thing I didn’t like was that there was literally no sword fighting, unlike the first movie. Add more of that for the next film. — Jorge BeatRocker
Rotten tomatoes doesn't represent this movie — obonbon
Dead men are rotten tomatoes and big wig critics.
Saw the reviews from different sources. But watched anyway 😈☠️! The movie was great. And didn’t pickup and negatively that being posted. Left me intrigued and wanting more action, laughs, twists and atmosphere. — Looney_Mike_1983
Do NOT listen to the Critics!! They know nothing!!

Absolutely loved it
I don't know why the critics gave it such bad reviews. I absolutely loved this movie. One of my top five favorites. Definitely worth owning. — silverpixie7
I don't know anything about the tomato meter. And I'm not sure who's opinions they've asked for to determine the score...but holy hell they're misguided! This film is exceptional! Nothing in my eyes can recapture the magic of Curse of the Black Pearl, but Dead Men Tell No Tales is a very close runner up. Definitely the second best in the series! — LordPlagouss88
A truly amazing movie!!!
I have nothing bad to say about it, great plot and tie-ins to the previous Pirates movies!!! — M&JFoltz
A must see. — Hummerboy666
Absolutely My Favorite Pirates

oh you wanna buy it on its release date, then you have to buy it in HD for $20. otherwise you have wait another month, at least, for the SD version. oh and no rentals either — unclebuck22
The Critics are Wrong.
Excellent movie. — Pelican33
Bring on the next one!
I love these films and I love pirates. Keep them coming! Though I will admit Depp was off in this movie. He didn't have to same sly swagger that he usually has. Hopefully the next one he'll put a better performance on. — Mizzou2
Beautiful addition to the series. If only Jack acted a little more like himself, the character was a bit off. — Ashley Kay Lanford
Don't believe the tomato review
I find it really impressive to tiny details! Makes me want to keep seeing more and more of it and even start reading the books. — giantfluffything
Jack Sparrow is lost and fumbling
In the first Pirates movie, Johnny Depp was the most interesting member of a well-crafted film. By now he is the least interesting member, having lost all that was attractive and fun about him. Originally he was always two steps ahead of everyone else, and you were never quite sure if his drunken sashaying was a ruse to keep the upper hand. In this film he's just a drunk who has no plan and is just trying to keep up, and with not all of his wits about him. The quality of the rest of the film reflectst the money thrown at it. But it has lost its heart. When I started to watch this movie, I thought "It's not so bad -- actually pretty good." Then as Depp continuously stumbled about in a drunken stupor, like an alcoholic shadow of previous greatness, and had to admit, "This is getting pretty bad." — DoBetter
Went in thinking I'd hate it...
...and came out loving it. Seriously, not a bad thing to say about it. Fast-paced, fresh perspective, and all of your favorite characters. I saw it in theaters and really was prepared to hate it. Walked out and said you know, it's as good as the first. — College Chic
Give it a shot!
It was actually not that bad! I just saw it on the plane and I liked the film way more than I thought I would (the Tomatometer was misleading on this one). I loved the first film and then liked each next movie progressively less, but this one is a real return to the Pirates roots and is more similar to the first than the last sequel. — Furiae
Awesome Pirates Movie
This film came out on my birthday. Me and my parents got to see it. It was amazing. — c-cupp7
Being a pirates fan you will enjoy this one much better than the last film.... the rotten tomato is underselling this movie should be fresh — BlackGuyInHeart
Getting back to the feel of the 1st
I love his movie, it actually felt like the original one. Also Orlando bloom and Kiera was the best part of this movie. — Bobthebruce
