Whoever wrote the screenplay really payed attention in english class! I thought the incorporation of 'Ozymandius' fit perfectly in that scene! — RiptideRunner
Not only is this a terrible movie in it's own right, it seems to go out of it's way to undermine and weaken the themes and questions in both Prometheus and the greater Alien franchise. It answers questions nobody asked (and the answers are spectacularly riduculous) while failing to explore it's own themes or those introduced in Prometheus. Covenent is, far and away, the worst entry in this franchise to date. Worse than Alien: Resurrection, worse than Alien v Predator, and worse than Alien 3. Not only is not a good movie, it soils the entire franchise. — Veraxus
stupid in almost every way. And a diservice to the original! — bloody gud
Im at a loss to see why this movie was a thing. There was something about it that bored the hell out of me. I'll give it a second try sometime. — doubleg

Good movie but paced
It is a good movie and with a lead bad guy who is not an alien. It is a bit long. It has an ending that is different than the others in this franchise and, while I will no doubt see the third movie in the prequel trilogy when it comes out, but I admit that I would like to eventually see an Alien VII that takes place at the end of the timeline and finally provides closure. — Furutan1
Not very interesting
Same old, same old. — Spunkybart
Please try again
This was a lazy movie and self evident right from the start. Looks good in a hopelessly dark way but goes in no direction that doesn't seem pre ordained. My big complaint though isn't the art, which is what it has always been, just more tiresome, it's the science. The hardware looks good and the tech looks good and plausible but what group of idiots would set foot on a totally alien landscape without even the tiniest bio hazard precautions. It was like yelling at the screen in an old time movie house and begging the actor not to go into that room or don't open that box but on a monumental level. — Dnick724
Not a great standalone movie
Don't watch this with an expectation that is will be a great self contained movie. It won't be. It is however an excellent addition to the Alien saga and explains a lot in conjunction with Promethius. You'll have to go back to watch Promethius again after watching this movie. — Alex64225689942158994
Better than Prometheus
Still a little disappointing but liked it better than the previous movie. — BruceUSA
I only have one good thing to say about this movie. Good CJI. Now that i have said that. There is no story plot, you dont even know half the people are married until they die. Worst remake i have ever seen. They didnt even get the alien right, they trie to give it a back story! I mean seriously, if you are going to make a remake at least stick to the original and ICONIC creatures origins. They completely destroyed the alien, moving from a creature that takes control of people for the sake of bringing them to the queen so that it can reproduce. To changing it to a blood thirsty creature thats one mission is kill anything other then itself. — dark wolf45
Loved it! Bad reviews unfair!
I really don't understand the bad reviews of this film. I grew up watching all the Alien movies and this one did not disappoint! I mean I don't know what people were expecting but this movie delivered on suspense on acting on horror and on continuing the storyline that was established years ago. What surprised me the most was the acting! Truly believable characters that were developed throughout the film and very fun to watch. Go into this knowing you were watching an alien movie and you will really really enjoy this film! — TrstyFriend
This movie fails on so many levels it is hard to fathom
Ridley Scott takes everything that made the original Aliens so great, and promptly forgets all about them. If NASA were to somehow fill up a colony ship with Darwin award recipients, then this is the movie about them. In fact, the characters are so stupid it is pretty much impossible to care about them. There is no suspense, no terror, just jump scares that are so plentiful and ridiculous they start to become comical. A major dissapointment. If you though Prometheus was bad, then you are in for a real treat, because this one is worse. — Keith001
Scifi at it's best!
Probably one of the best of the series. Great film. — amarioh
Worst one yet
I have watched all the Aliens movies and this is by far the worst. Don’t waste your money buying or renting this one. — Victory75092
Lacking production integrity and quality.
Given the contraints the cast suffered with the story line/budget/production, they did a fantastic job which in contrast, will make them standout in the end. They delivered a great performance in support of a mediocre story/production. — S1D2

Polarizing to say the least...
Like Prometheus, Covenant is gorgeously flawed. It's not the same experience in any way... it's much more of a throwback to the original's claustrophobic, squirmy origins. and all the makings of a intergalactic horror masterpiece are there. Gorgeous cinematography, stellar acting, jumps and creeps... all in place. Except two key factors that are present in both (and I hope Ridley Scott is reading this because I have been a die-hard fan of his original since I saw it the year it was released)... the emotional draw to the characters is nearlynon-existent (By far the biggest mistake... what made Alien, Blade Runner and The Martian uncontested classics is that all the charecters were thought-out, well-rounded and had an emotional draw). We didn't know who was going to survive in Alien, but we cared. We may not know who is going to survive in Covenant either... but do we really care? The other is the ridiculously... well, ridiculous scenes that keep the viewer wondering "what made him think we would believe a ship could knock over that huge stone pillar without taking on major damage?" (To me as silly as the "can't run side sideways" scene everyone was so up in arms about from Prometheus. The movie still has high points, and some very high points in fact. It's just a shame a master of his craft can't stop making the same mistake these days. We all want the franchise to return to it's former glory so much. It's just a shame it keeps falling JUST short. — Greazy
Sequel to Promethius
I actually thought this was a reboot, but it was an Sequel to Promethius. They are back on the same planet, and unearth what has happened to the docotor from the first film. I thought the movie was great in so many ways. I'm not sure why it didn't do better at the box office. I'm guessing it was bad advertisment. Even if you didn't like Promethius I think you will enjoy this. The alien looks awesome! — Rick1980
This is even worse than the last one. The behavior of the characters is as bad as the worst low budget horror flicks. One of the characters slips on blood and that is what progresses the story. Totally stupid. Ridley Scott must have gone insane or is too old, just like what happend to George Lucas. — Erik Stone
Dont drink and watch this movie
Had more than couple of beers , wife forced me to watch that movie... im struggling , i dont know what is going on... i dont ubderstand it at all... wife is sober and she has same problem as I do.... is this a continuation of Alien , or Critters from back on 80s , 90s... waste of money... need more action then conversations... wrong choice — vDjLake
My favorite Aliens movie
I love the Aliens series, this one is my all time favorite. — DEADSHOTSBIGGESTFAN
Loved it. — R4n6er
Really 1 star? Get out of here...
This movie is a brilliant addition to the Alien series. Of course some Alien movies in the past have not been that good but this movie makes good on all of them. You wont find better. My compliments to Mr. Scott, produders and the whole team. Well played. Don’t ever compromise on tis series. — Reader8888
Great follow up to Prometheus
Covenant answers some of your questions from Prometheus and leaves you with many more. Top notch sci/fi/horror experience. — Jasper45-70

Fun Alien Movie
This was a fun movie about Alien's. It ties in Prometheus which is an added bonus. I personally liked the characters and would of liked to of gotten to know them better but...so be it. This was kind of fast paced so you have to pay attention. I also liked the different types of Aliens used in the movie (oops spoiler?) — GreeneyedAngel
Surprised by how good it was.
I fell into the negative hype and placed this movie onto the backburner for a while, and I really shouldn't have. I have been a huge fan of the Alien lore since I was a kid in the 80's, and surprisingly, I'd have to say that this is now my favorite Alien film since Aliens. It's not a masterpiece, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Just another lesson that you shouldn't always let other's negative reviews skew your own opinion. — Freq7
This movie started out good, buuuuuuut it after a while, became very predictable. I knew the ending after they ran into David, the character they had from Prometheus, I then knew how this movie was going to end. Don't wasn't your movie on this. — I've got the Blues
Refreshingly given a twist, this movie is quenched my thirst for a new alien movie; it delivered big time. I running back to the TV when I had to take a restroom break. I was ringing my hands in awe. I was captivated and after the movie, I sat still and slowly took it all in. Great movie. — YTElliott
I feel bad for the actors and production crew who did as good as a job as possible with this terrible script ... predictable , frustrating to sit through after the first 45 mins ... expected much better from Ridley Scott... — ike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worse than Prometheus
It's time for Ridley Scott to call it a day with this franchise. He made one good Alien film, the original. Prometheus sucked, and he's past his prime as a filmmaker. This film is an embarrassment and should have never been made in the first place. — -Donnation-
The only good thing in this film was the acting by Micael Fassbender! The members of the crew behave like complete morons and the storyline is pathetic. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!! — Mike The MC
When you have a gay robot scene
whole thing was unbearable and unbelievable. — douglaskloeker
Before I even watched it people were disappointed and said it wasn't the same. Well to me yes it's not the same but I loved it and looking forward to the 3rd chapter of the prequel saga 😏👌. — SmileytheDog17
This movie is not scary at all unless you have no intuition. You can predict the whole movie 30 min in. There's like a 5 min warning before someone dies. The ending is so obvious only an idiot couldn't figure it out. The ship is cool though. — Railgun
Exactly what you'd expect with some clever characters — bjasvensk
I’m Sorry Ridley!!!
Say it isn’t so! I am the biggest Ridley Scott on the planet! I have all his movies, I’ve read books about him, watched interviews so when I saw the trailer for this movie I couldn’t wait, but boy was I so disappointed. This will be the first Ridley Scott movie that I will not be buying or wanting to watch again. I’m not sure what it was, but I just couldn’t wait for it to be over or to go somewhere I have never been before. The script seemed weak, the acting flat, the Alien too CG. I’ll say this, the only part that I really got into the film was when the first infected crew member was taken to sick bay. That was well done, I was actually leaning forward in my seat and was hoping the rest of the film was going to be like that, but sadly it was not. After really liking Prometheus and looking forward to this, I was really let down. I’m really sorry Ridley, but I just didn’t like this film. Still a huge fan though! — MagicHour
Fly off the handle, whiny and hysterical, a bunch of professional space people land on unknown planet and proceed to commit every obvious, boneheaded blunder under its sun -- resulting in cheap death destruction and mayhem. Last two moments' shocking reversal only reason to suffer thru the other awful 2 hrs — jm1000009
Worse Than Prometheus
I had high expectations for this movie. The potential was certainly there. But (spoilers), there were a number of problems with the plot, and the relative inteligence of the characters. 1) David becomes the super-evil waco in this movie. Huh? He certainly wasn't evil in Prometheus, and the story line doesn't tell us why he becomes so. 2) The Engineers were a race of super-inteligent homo sapiens that David somehow fools into believing he is one of them, and then bio-bombs the whole lot of them? 3) The crew is incredibly stupid, prone to emotional decision-making, and cannot for the life of themselves, keep on mission. Hey captain! Look into this creepy pod. It's perfectly safe! Let's risk the whole crew to see if my wife is still okay, because we don't have more than one landing craft on a mission with over 2,000 people on board. Really? Who writes this stuff? 4) The landing ships are a combination of really tough, but have candy-glass for viewports. If an alien can bash-in an exterior window with only his head, what would have happened with a micro-meteor? The first two movies in this chain were great. The third movie was horrible. The fourth movie was somewhat better, although the big nasty was laughable. Prometheus wasn't bad, but this movie followed up on that one in the same tradition as from movie 2 to movie 3; dismally. — The Iron Marshal
Had touble with this movie
I came into this movie with an open mind. I was turned off almost from the begining. Not having seen any alien movies for a long time I was surprised at how easily it was to pick apart what was going to happen. Scene by scene nothing surprised me. I also thought it sad that I knew what the dialogue in some parts was going to be before it was spoken. All that being said I did enjoy some of the shots of the space ship hovering above the storm. I am glad I chose to rent it instead of buying. — Sean♥
Don't trust robots
The story has kind of taken a disappointing turn with this one. David (the android from Prometheus) has gone from being just an amoral servant to his creator, to a truly evil being with a God complex. Couple that with some mostly truly stupid characters and you've got a letdown by the end of the movie. Nonetheless, the ending will leave fans dying for the producers to get going on the next chapter, so I guess they succeeded on that level. Where's Ripley when we need her? — Upstate NY
Im a huge fan of Ridley's Alien and this movie combines the horror formula that made Alien so great, with the depth and philosophy that made prometheus great. It is also nice to finally get some answers as Prometheus raised more than it answered. Also I see so many critical reviews I have to clarify.. if you dont like the classical horror genre you wont enjoy this.. you KNOW everyone is going to die because of their human flaws right? Even intelligent people do stupid things, especially when emotionally driven. Illustrating that is the POINT of classic horror. All those who say they love alien but hate this are lying to themselves or lying to you — AvalonTears
Same Stupid Movie
Same stupid movie over and over and over. The humans don't have one complete brain combined. They always walk into danger and then panic immediately. When they have a chance to do something, like kill an alien, they slip and fall. The people making these things must think we are pretty stupid. And we are because we keep watching this crap. — kw85233
A good sequel but not great 🙂
Unlike a lot of people, I enjoyed Prometheus even when there was no xenomorph involved. I saw it as a great Sci-Fi movie. This movie on the other hand, the xenomorphs are back, and they shown no mercy to the crew/idiots of the Covenant. Breathtaking scenery of the engineers planet and the use of real physical structures instead of CGI for filming makes it awesome to look at. The fight scene with Daniel and the xenomorph on the ship with a crane was the best part. The way the neomorphs came out from the infected individuals were bloody nasty in a good way. I think the last fight ended too quick and wish it was more different or epic. Overall I really enjoyed watching it. 😁 — Neo_Review
Really first we have to pay tax now we have to pay for a movie that barely made its 4th star. I'll wait till it goes down to 4.99 like it should be! -_-" — Get It Girl!
don't waste your time
I would give it -10 stars if possible, absolutlely horrible movie. I am a fan of sci-fi and I have seen previous alien movies but this did not live up to the hype. It's dreadfully slow, uninteresting dialogue and it makes absolutely no sense. It just felt like they were desperate to come up with a crappy script in order to make the movie so they could make money off the franchise. — MayJazmin
Total waste, don't buy, just rent if you must.
Just when I thought it could get worse than Prometheus. Scott does it worse. — gordsgridley
Effects awesome Really enjoyable escapism That's what movies are supposed to be about — Jonny4usandton
Could have been better
If you are a recent fan of the Alien francise this is not a bad entry. This movie has a lot of similar themes and pacing of the original Alien movie including the music. So a nice nod to the fans of the original but their in is the problem. For years the Alien movies tries to give us a"new" Ripley. In doing so they are just telling the same story over and over again. Strong female lead tackles monster. Aliens at least mixed it up a but and gave us a Vietnam film disguised as a SciFi movie. — SciFi-Verse Fan
