It was sad, but SO GREAT! I saw this on my family's Apple TV and it was so worth renting. You all should watch it! (Unless you don't like sad moments) Because some moments are sad — mckdmsk

Phenomenal Movie!!!!!!
★★★★★
This movie made me laugh and cry!!!! Abuse, really people???? I really don't think they would abuse a dog to make him do a scene. It's called acting. Besides do your research before you badmouth a movie. I loved it!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ — Bbkay76

Beautiful movie!

My sons (13, 11 and 9) and I, we all love this movie. All the dogs are cute! — Grace BKK

Dogs are wiser than humans
★★★★★
Dogs teach us more than any human can in their shorter time on this earth. Yeah there was controversy about this movie, but I held our six-year-old rescue in between her barking at her furry fiends on screen. We cried our eyes out missing our 14-year old rescue we had to put down after the 2012 Presidential Election. All dogs steal your heart and make you wish you had more time with them. I still get to see our dog we do not have with us by looking up 14-year-old dog gets the mail on YouTube. They know more about us than we will ever know about ourselves. — PhotogDarin

Simply loved it, I truly don't believe the whole abuse thing. People always want to find the bad in many things like always. But movie was excellent as a dog lover and owner myself, I wanted to kissed and hug the whole time my pups. — AB-84

I would love to see this movie soooo badly that I would like to have it come out on DVD already... and I will be the first one to get it... but I think it may be already out on DVD I'm not sure.😕--🙂☺️😊😃😎 — Sidney/Serria-VR.

Loved it!
★★★★★
Great movie! My 3 kids watched it and loved it. Reading all the reviews where everyone is huffing and puffing about abusing dogs to make the movie…. seriously? You really think they did that because everything you see in movies is true? Or is it ‘just the thought’ of a dog possibly going through that is unbearable? When people get more passionate about an animal suffering over humans, you’ve got a problem and should problem reassess what’s really important in life. ‘Be a HERO, save a Whale, save a Baby, go to Jail.’ — K to the E ven

The message behind this amazing. It brings sad tears, happy tears, feelings of sadness, and joy. I'm sad people had to point fingers and cry abuse. This is far from it. That image of that loving dog being held down in the pool with strong waves almost drowning him is not worth $14.99, $5.99, or even 0.01 cents. Donate $14.99 to an animal shelter instead. — Josh Kaufman fan

are we all being too righteous
★★★★★
It seems a bit righteous when people (who probably have dogs) compare themselves with a professional dog trainer. Think about this...when you force a dog to simply sit. You typically push the dogs butt down to sit when they are first learning. They don't naturally sit when you say sit...so you are really forcing them to learn something new. I trained my dog to hunt...and my other dog was our house pet...the reality is...teaching a dog, a person or anything else requires things that they don't necessarily want to do. When my child started school, he hated it...I had to force him to go...he cried...screamed...but in the end he went...he got used to it and loves school now. Same with your dog...you force them to do something and they eventually learn. If you have ever taken your dog out for a walk on a leash the first time...I'm sure you yanked them around until they finally followed you according to your will...well...that's training...it's forcing a dog to do something they don't want to do... seeing eye dogs probably go through the most rigorous training...there lives are about serving people...but people don't have videos of what they go through for training (so no avenue to complain). The video shows the dog underwater...well...my friends dog actually knows how to dive down under water...dogs naturally know to hold their breath under water...they naturally know how to swim (unlike humans who have to be taught). I saw the complete movie. It's not something I want my 6 and 8 year old to watch yet...I think they will love this movie when they get a bit older...Great ending by the way...I love happy endings :) — Fly Fishing for Bonefish !

Don't push the dog in movie. It is very popular now and great. But the more push is the dog is terrify thing — Melody Auro

Will change your perspective
★★★★★
This movie was absolutely fantastic. I have a dog that we've owned since she was a puppy and her health is deteriorating fast. This movie has caused me to think hard about how I can make what little time she has left, memorable and the most fun. Will definitely change perspective not only on dogs and important they are, but also on life. It really is simple. Have fun, and find people you can help. — Brokerb

Awesome

Every dog lover will LOVE!! — SharitaAlex

Very nicely done movie for dog lovers
★★★★
Expected this to be a run of the mill dog movie where boy gets puppy, they bond then dog dies. This one is quite different. My only complaint is that it is a little long. The last part made it all worth while. Nice character development, scrpt and excellent acting. It left me in tears. — cayrick

Sad movie
★★★★★
There is no abuse in this movie. Stop wasting your time boycotting. Anyway, this movie was sad, funny, and great. The puppies are very cute as well to! If your going to watch this grab the tissue — Berti2003

Nothing like the book
★★★★★
The book is sooooo much better. Each time the dog takes on a different life in the book, he/she finds some purpose that by the end of the story all comes together. The movie destroys this build up and the makes the dog less important. Read the book. — Ryancory1

Smh
★★★★
Maybe a great story but the simple fact the actual dog was forced to perform and was terrified is enough for me to not give any money. Boycott — jmoney5

Snowflakes...

Great awesome
★★★★★
It's a great movie but something I have to say the first part the dog died and it was a puppy? Why did we get that it would have been even greater movie if the first part the dog didn't some how die from a net as a puppy and it looked fine I'm kidding I love the move who ever hates it get a life it's so loving and like ellie was fine but was that real moving water because that would be scary and also you could have told the story of his first life and just saying Ethan's mom is savage breaking that window with a crowbar but anyways such a great movie it was awesome loving and sad but happy sad — Fhdhduhehdhdhehuduehdhd

THERE WAS NO ABUSE OF ANY DOGS!
★★★★★
FROM AMERICAN HUMANE: The investigation and eyewitness reports affirmed that throughout its work on the set, the dog was treated with great care, attentiveness and respect. At the same time, American Humane believes that the handling of the dog in the first scene in the video should have been gentler and signs of stress recognized earlier. That being said, it is important to note that this was recognized and the scene did not proceed as insinuated by the misleadingly edited video. Although the dog was momentarily stressed, based on studying additional footage not included in the video, body posture, and the fact that he quickly and willingly went into the water and performed the scene soon afterwards, a separate, independent, board certified Veterinary Behaviorist brought in to examine the events concluded that there was “no lasting stress response or conditioned fear of the water as a result.” Eyewitnesses also report that following the water scene, the dog was wagging his tail and wanted to go back into the water. The New York Times recently noted that the accusations of mistreatment on the set have been “largely debunked.” The findings of the independent, third-party investigation corroborate this conclusion. — MeTooAlsoAsWell2
