BEST MOVIE that brings two city's and a country together
★★★★★
This is by far the best movie I have ever watched. I love how the detail are right on point. I can't say how great this is but when I turn 21 I want to place a application into the Boston PD. That city is so united I believe it is one of the best cities in the world. — Ethan Merica

Better than Deep Horizon
★★★★
Good movie better than I expected after watching Deep Horizon I thought maybe another movie that would lose my interest midway through but it kept my full attention till the end. Very good movie one of the better movies I've seen the past year. Only thing I didn't like was the lack of reason why they set the bombs off. It woulda made the movie better even though most probably know this it still shoulda been included imo. — ArtogantBastard

Good movie, but misses the Cowboy Hat Man

I mean seriously, this dude, Carlos Arredondo helped so many victims, and is totally erased from the story, as if he never was there. — korniszon

A stirring and emotional depiction
★★★★★
The film Patriots day is an emotional docudrama that depicts the Boston Marathon Bombing and the ensuing manhunt. The film effectively connects the audience to the depravity of the situation. One of the best films of the year. A must see. As a native of New England, and someone who was at the marathon, the film meant a great deal to me. Patriots Day does a phenomenal job of showing the human cost of the day, and depicts a city that was brought together by tragedy. The film depicts the actual events in Boston, true to all reports and accounts. Director Peter Berg effectively utilizes actual surveillance footage to blend the real with the reenacted. These qualities combine for a surreal and accurate depiction of the incident. — -TheNuKe-

Excellent Movie
★★★★★
Illustrates how Americans come together with love when faced with hate filled tragedy. Something too quickly forgotten when the tragedy is a memory. Sensitively and accurately portrayed the event and aftermath. Although I followed the news in 2013 I was not aware of the intensity of the shootout in Watertown. As an aside, I would like to have seen the Cowboy Hat man and the gentleman that lost both his legs who was saved by Cowboy hat integrated into the story. Both have incredible stories as well and were important in IDing the bombers. Reliving the event motivated me to wipe away tears and offer my prayers for all of Boston, the incredible law enforcement and the people so senselessly hurt and killed. Restores your faith that we all have the ability to come together- shouldn't take a tragedy. Excellent movie. — movie87

Best True Life Story Movie Ever Made
★★★★★
I went and saw this movie the day after it came out. I have to say that was a very good movie. It depicted every event from that week so well. The thing is I'm from Boston and I was about 13 or 14 when the Boston Marathon happened so I didn't really understand everything but I knew that it wasn't good. The movie gave me a better understanding, of course my parents explained everything to me but as I grew older I got more interested on what actually happened and this movie was amazing. It definitely is the number one movie on my list since it was such a fantastic movie representing how Boston came together and especially since Mark Wahlberg was in it!! I highly recommend this movie!!! — Ksc616

A Reminder Heroes Wear Badges, Not Capes
★★★★★
Boston Strong all around. We start out with Officer Tommy Saunders (Mark Wahlberg) leading a drug raid the night before the fateful 2013 Boston Marathon. After getting scolded by Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman), Tommy goes home to his wife Carol (Michelle Monaghan), where he’s scolded for drinking and forced to rest elsewhere before he does his job at the 2013 Boston Marathon where the fateful event takes place, and things are never the same afterward. We see the lead-up to and fallout of the Boston Marathon through law enforcement of Boston, Watertown, and FBI, like Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (J.K. Simmons) and Boston FBI Agent Richard DesLauriers (Kevin Bacon). We also see the story of MIT Officer Sean Collier (Jake Picking), who was shot by the Tsarnaevs in real life, but not just there, but we get a taste of his life, which adds to the emotional impact of his death. Let’s not forget Dun Meng (Jimmy O. Yang), the driver who was carjacked by the Tsarnaevs, who we’re introduced to when we see Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (Alex Wolff) watching a tutorial on how to build the pressure cookers that did so much physical damage at the finish line, and even more repercussions beyond Boylston St. There is a lot of great character development of law enforcement, victims and all those involved, and they don’t humanize the Tsarnaevs as much, but give us a taste of their lives and a look into their beliefs. I could go on about how well they balanced the screen time of law enforcement, victims, terrorists, etc, but I must also praise the plot: well-paced and coherent throughout, and again, tastefully depicting the Boston Marathon Bombing while capturing the horror of that week. I wasn’t there in any way, but I’m a Massachusetts man, and I can say that week was the worst April Vacation of my life, because terrorism hit so close to home that day, they didn’t over-do the explosions when it came time, and on top of that, I found it really cool how they incorporated actual footage from the real-life event into it. You could tell it was so, but it added to the realism. Of course, every movie, real-life story or not, needs a soundtrack, and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross deliver a score that’s moving at intimate moments, and intensifies with the story, mostly when we arrive at the actual terrorism, and keeps it tasteful by not going over the top, because this is a true story. It was so tasteful because the comic relief, which actually exists in this movie, and is placed appropriately, because we all need a good laugh to remind us life will go on. Laughs tend to come from perfectly placed one-liners (Dun Meng, the Tsarnaev’s hostage, gives the best one-liner that you’ll know when you get to it). Catch this perfectly-made film, that captures the horrors of that horrible week in Boston and surrounding towns, shows it in a powerful manner, and even sneaks in a little comic relief without ruining the powerful message, while remaining tasteful. Patriot’s Day is truly a patriot’s film, regardless of whether you’re from Boston or a neighboring town! — Fan of SHIELD

Mark Wahlberg has now made two films that exploit Boston tragedies: Patriot's Day & Ted 2. At least his brother is making good cheeseburgers for the people of Southie. Marky Mark, what's good kid. — Jarrod Gibbons
