Perfect Sunday movie
★★★★
I was a bit sceptic after reading the rotten tomatoes reviews, but if you like sci-fi in general, you're gonna like this for sure. Not one dull moment and good actors. — Norway1980

Lame!
★★★★★
The premise was O.K. but it's not an original theme. The story telling was kind mind-numbing. Only the last 23 minutes of the movie had any merit. — Berkeley Rooster

Great flick
★★★★★
The storyline and dialogue was very believable. Both actors were top of their game. The visuals were stunning. — deverter

Great movie.
★★★★★
The critics were wrong in this one (as they are on most). I thought it was a very well made movie, the graphics are amazing and the story was very good! Highly recommend. — scifi~chic

Unexpected
★★★★★
Loved it. Not what you expect in a space movie. Jennifer is incredible as usual. — Whiz200

Going to be one of my all time favorites.
★★★★★
Wasn't sure on this one especially because Jennifer Lawrence is not one of my favorites. However this really appealed to my emotional side and Chris Pratt was excellent. The ethical and moral dilemma he was faced with was solid and well done. I throughly enjoyed it and it will be a forever favorite. — TexasFilly

Worth the rental!
★★★★
Rotten Tomatoes' review is way off about this movie. It is worth the rental. The special effects were great and the story is not overcomplicated like most Sci-Fi movies that try to talk above the audience (I'll listen to Star Talk if I want a lesson in quantum physics - this is a movie!) Just a fun, visually beautiful movie. Ignore the critics. — Chandy Pants

Boo Hiss
★★★★
A bland, unbelievable, and downright creepy love story that just happens to be played out on a giant spaceship. Chris Pratt's manipulative, self-absorbed character is SUCH a creep, and what he does to Jennifer Lawrence's character is SUCH a violation, that it totally destroys the whole lovey-dovey story. We booed at the ending. The two best things about it are the robot bartender and the look of shame on Andy Garcia's face when he makes the tiniest of appearances. — nocrickets

Great movie
★★★★★
Basically a love story. Great movie I feel. Can watch it over and over again. — BrandonB111

Rotten Tomatoes are wrong
★★★★
This is a good movie with interesting twists and a romantic story line.. I'd rank it with The Martian, Gattaca, The 13th Floor… a well produced and interesting science fiction movie. Actors are very good, special effects and sets are great, most of the physics seem pretty well thought out. Not going to trust Rotten Tomatoes much any more. — trying_to_like_this

Entirley "Meh"
★★★★★
....could have cut an hour out, somewhere, anywhere, and it would have been an improvement. Nice visual effects, but yeah, entirety "meh". — Buddha DS9

The Critics Are RIGHT!
★★★★
This movie has an abundance of gorgeous CGI and special effects, but it lacks anything resembling an actual plot. No suspense. No surprises. Fast forward to the last half of the movie, because absolutely NOTHING happens in the first half. — Justin Robo

cheesy
★★★★★
cheesy, but still entertaining — drpresident

I watched this movie first on demand, now I'm buying it. I thought it was a really good story, visually pleasing and great casting. Its a nice teaching on living in the moment if you want to look at it that way. I really enjoyed everything about it. — Shwelly00

Not sure why the critics were so harsh
★★★★
Like other reviewers, I watched this movie with fairly low expectations because of the negative critical reviews. Honestly, I enjoyed the movie immensely - much more than I expected. The acting was fantastic, the storyline interesting and engaging, the animation wonderful. The critics need to dial back their bizarrely harsh reviews. Maybe it's not the most profound space movie ever made, but it's definitely an entiertaining, thought-provoking ride. I felt like watching it was an evening well-spent. — Exluna

Unexpectedly wonderful
★★★★★
Space as a backdrop and metaphor for life's existential questions of love, purpose, finding oneself, and our journey through life alone. After viewing, we were talking about the story at length, with enthusiasm, which, to me, means it was a good film and worth the time to watch. I definitely recommend it. — LLTurin

Exactly as the reviews say
★★★★
Terrible waste of money and talent. Absolutely boring all the way through. — Joiedefilm

Don't listen to the critics
★★★★★
It's a pretty good movie - an enjoyable two hours. — Almagne

Very entertaining
★★★★★
The premise is creepy. The guy does a creepy thing. But the movie doesn't shy away from that. The actors are terrific. The writing is very good. — serene and impatient

Not what I expected, but fun
★★★★
I was just looking for something fun to watch that would allow me to turn off my head, and that's exactly what this was. And there was a little twist that I didn't expect from the previews. — Joeb29

Great Plot, Lazy Ending

A new favorite!
★★★★★
This movie couldn't have been more perfect. Felt every emotion. Everything felt real. The space station, the loss of gravity, the desperation, the loneliness, every single thing was believable. I could go on and on about every detail. I usually notice small things that look fake or remind you that you're watching a movie, but I can honestly say this was flawless in my eyes. Already rewatched it 2 more times lol — S'mores15

Ignore the critics
★★★★★
Great movie, good love story mixed with sci-fi. — Kind of disappointed

Ok date movie .. waste of life in general
★★★★★
It's was ohhhhhhkaaay .. special effects were awesome and the acting was great .. the story was whack and could've had a better ending. Great date movie though Spoiler alternative: Would've been awesome to see their 30-40 something year old children welcoming the hibernating crew or even so a larger time jump where they are revered in some kind of huge way — Ro-dub

Studio Producer Fired
★★★★★
I feel sorry for the studio producer who green lit this travesty of a film. They could have set it on a lifeboat of the Titanic and it would have been 100% better....maybe. Starships are not designed for their lushness, nor Yves St. Larent wardrobes. Obviously a huge payday for Mr. Pratt and Ms. Lawrence, but a pink slip earned for the studio's producer. Watch 'Silent Running' instead and rediscover a true classic SciFi movie with a message ahead of its time (plus, it has cute robots !) — 1BSO

Passengers
★★★★
I always check the ratings before I purchase a movie. When I checked the ratings for Passengers, it was 4.5 out of 5 which I made the mistake thinking that meant the movie would be good. What a dissappointment I got....with the movie and wasting my $9.99 on this...whatever. I am losing faith in how people rate tv shows and movies. A lesson learned on not to go by other people's reviews and ratings. Overall assessment...Don't waste your money. — YncyAL

Yes, Ignore Rotten Tomatoes Especially.
★★★★
Great movie! Stands out as an excellent Hard Science Fiction movie yet it touches on some difficult human emotions that also make it an excellent drama and romance piece. I've thought in the past Rotten Tomatoes has some complex arty-farty formula they use to evaluate movies and it often disconnects from actual viewer experience but this is the first time I've experienced such a vast contrast of great viewing experience in relation to RT's poor rating. Are you reading this RT? I'm going to stop taking you seriously! — Sam Urai

Superb acting.
★★★★★
Absolutly love this movie. So much fun and the acting makes you really care about the characters. Christ Pratt does and Jennifer Laurence give another class A performances. Both should have won awards for the roles they portrayed. One of my new favorite movies. — JeremyCR

Surprisingly great!
★★★★★
At first I was unsure about whether this movie was going to be what it cracked up to be in the previews so I didn't go see it in theaters. But then I decided to give it a try renting on iTunes. I actually really liked it! I thought it was a very creative and detailed story. Although other movies have been made on similar concepts, I believe Passengers still held its individuality well. I felt that the ending of this movie really gave it meaning and answered a lot of questions one would have otherwise been displeased with not knowing. Other than the storyline being a tad slow, it is still worth watching. Acting is great and grasped my attention the whole movie! — coliee11

Read Customer Reviews, Not Critics...Fake News!
★★★★★
Likek many others here, I had very low expectations. I wanted to see it in the theater, but was scared off by the terrible reviews. I avoided spoilers, but most write-ups made you think the plot was out to lunch after taking some huge twist...uh, no, just good writing. It was a fun movie and well done - maybe I liked it so much because I wasn't expecting something terrible - but I don't think so. It is a shame it might be missed by so many who only follow rotten tomatoes rankings... Take a chance and see it for yourself. — Gonavy34

Thought provoking, good acting & story, plus some laughs
★★★★
Rotten tomatoes is off on this one. The Passengers is thought provoking, acted very well, and has a good story line. Is it the best movie EVER? No. But it is enjoyable and definitely worth a watch. I just rented it and watched it twice; considering buying it as well. If you're looking for a movie that has some laughs, some action, and relatable characters, then give this one a go. — rb11111111111

Critics are shallow & jaded!
★★★★★
Visually - this is a work of ART! Story - moving. Acting - Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are wonderful together. Rented it, watched it twice and then bought it! End of story. I was surprised to discover that Chris Pratt was born in Virginia MN, less than 50 miles from my hometown! But, Jessica Lange was from Cloquet, MN - 15 miles away and Bob Dylan (my cousin) was born in my hometown of Duluth, MN. We lived in the same duplex for the first 4 years of our lives. I know there are numerous others, but these are the ones that come to mind. Small world - great state! — thinkman

I enjoyed the movie
★★★★
The film raises a number of interesting long-term space travel and human ethics questions, but doesn't spend much energy exploring them. A missed opportunity. Otherwise, the film looks great, and Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence did a good job with acting and chemistry. Overall, an entertaining date film. — Dallascaper

Great movie!

Loved the movie from start to finish. J-law once again delivers. — Mensbook.net

Go In With Low Expectations...
★★★★★
The movie is really quite sexist and a ripoff of many fairytales. There are lines directly ripped from many Disney cartoons. My friends and I kept count in the theater when we saw it. We were quite surprised that Jennifer Lawrence would accept a role like this especially when she's been speaking out about women's equality. This is (like Beauty & the Beast) a story of a hostage who faslls in love with her hostage-taker. All that said, it's fine for a dumb popcorn movie. We had fun because we went in having already accepted it for what it was. We also saw it for free... — GreenpointBK

Never listen to Critics.
★★★★★
Don't make decisions on watching a movie or not by reading reviews from critics on rotten tomatoes. This movie was well put together and performances by Jennifer and Chris were on point. It's not your average sappy love story, although you get you romance fix with the chemistry of the two characters. Passengers will delight you, its the human ability to make the best of a situation is captivating. Watch it make a decision for yourself, if you like it who cares what others think. — DEMACH5

Awesome movie.
★★★★★
A most see movie. — j18m2010

Entertaining except the ending.
★★★★★
Great visuals and sufficiently interesting storyline, just okay acting. J-Law overdid her screaming crying shaking thing, but probably to make up for any other emotions. There was no reason to really care for any of the characters. Anyway, all was fine until for some reason he asked her to marry him, with no reason to believe they were in love, and there were no people around to care anyway. Then they had the opportunity to put her back to sleep but there was no tension around this milestone moment. After that the movie just ended abruptly. Also, there was no good reason why Laurence Fishburne's character existed. He conveniently woke up, did some diagnostics that weren't really impactful, and then died. No musical themes that I picked up on, which would have helped tremendously to build tension and guide the story. But it was entertaining and I would watch it again cuz sci-fi. — MooDawg

Emotional and inspirational
★★★★★
The movie is a fantastic story of love, companionship, and sacrifice that inspires meditation about meaningful life values. It has a distilled, meaningful, focused, and credible story that keeps you emerged in the plot. Recommend to everyone to watch. Good job to the actors, directors, screen writers, producers, designers, and the rest of the crew. Rotten tomatoes rating make a great injustice to this movie. It should have been above 90%. — The Tribune

Glad the critics were wrong!
★★★★★
This movie isn't artsy. It's not interpretive. That's the only reason I could see the critics bashing it. It's just a good old sci fi love story. If you like movies that are deep and make you think or reflect, pass on this. If you like movies with amazing visuals and a an entertaining plot give this a shot. After renting it I'm going to purchase it for further viewing. — Barslug
