Very slow, weak story, ok acting. I don't know why it is so high regarded. The action in the previews is all the action in the film. — ALLTHE KINGS MEN
Money well spent!
Money well spent. Great acting, great plot, great cinematography. Great chemistry between the two main pairs (Chris Pine - Ben Foster, and Jeff Bridges - Gil Birmingham). Not sure how much winning the Academy means in this time, but I can not help but wonder why this movie did not steal more awards. Still, it does not change the perfection of this movie. — La Pandita
Guys, this movie is portrayed as a boring looking Western, but boy was I surprised. Don't let the ads fool you... beautiful cinematography, great acting, funny/action/drama all-in-one. Give it a shot, definitely earned its Oscar noms. — JustinLacombe
didn't know what to expect from this film but the actors alone made me want to watch it. one of the best films i've seen! brilliant script and amazing acting. — pj4420
Great acting. Beautiful cinematography. I appreciate the imagery and culture of the desolate landscapes and culture of of Texas. To the extent that the writing is authentic and true to the people it portrays, the "Southern" cinema is relevant to the understanding of the American political and cultural fabric. — Yuval Romm
This movie caught me off guard! There was enough action and comedy to keep you glued to the storyline. — Matty336
Very solid film!
I really love this movie, I have seen it twice. — Richmoves

Best Western Film In A Long Time
This film is truly wonderfully written and shot. Every scene has significance, right down to the soundtrack. It's more than a thriller or true crime. It's a classic Western in the greatest tradition of the genre. It manages to include the tropes and themes of Gothic Westerns in the present day. All three of the leads did a wonderful job. Magnificent! — Blkaddr
This movie is so good I'd watch it over and over. There are parts that kids shouldn't watch but other than that it's a good movie. — GVGFCGBFDHB
Raw And Entertaining
A must see! — Ariauna
Best Movie Yet
Being Texas born and raised for 40+ years this is SPOT ON! Well directed and great cinematography that makes you feel like you are truly in W. Texas. Loved all the comments and hilarious dialogue from Jeff Bridges. WELL DONE! — Yfsfvt
Modern Americana at its best! A cinematic masterpiece!
Great film and story line; a thinly veiled jab at the modern American economy of banking and corruption, twisted around love for family and the desire to break the chains of poverty. Definitely worth the rental money. — praefectus
Top notch film of the year
This is o another big miss of Hollywood peps I recommend this one very well acted — yagulito
Jeff Bridges continues to astound, and a great country-noir-heist storyline. The kind of film one could watch multiple times just to enjoy the dialogue. — mombetsu
Fell in Love with actors I never cared for!
I am not a " Western " type of girl, but this movie was wonderful! I read some stupid low reviews and I wonder what movie those people watched! I have lived in West Texas before too, and all over US- What's that got to do with the movie?! It's not a True Story- it's action-adventure with drama and some comedy. If You are One of those people that roots for the underdog in movies, You will enjoy this movie. — BamaGirlGing
It's a solid movie. Pretty entertaining. Has a lot of slow parts that slow the movie down too much. But how on earth is this movie up for an Oscar? That's what I want to know. 98% on Rotten Tomatoes? Really? — Kes8514
Rent it. — Nick2928181
I liked it... — Bristol The Pistol
Hell or High Water
Jeff Bridges picks up with Hell or High Water where he left off with True Grit. Law and order and civility does not come down to guns. Problems start with the guns. — Layton L.
Really enjoyed the movie from start to end! Great cast all around! — litldee
Much better than i figured
I enjoyed this movie much more than I expected I would. two brothers robbing banks to help their family (doing it for the "right reasons"?) while Jeff Bridges as a gruff sheriff funny without intending to be. Kinda made me think of a boys' Thelma & Louise. Great acting and cinematography. Really captures the feel of wide-open Texas. A good watch. — MichelleGoBlue
Simple, but well-acted a terrifically entertaining — dmatjay
Best movie of the year...must see!
This movie gives me hope that the art of film making is still alive and well. — SparkyInIndiana
Is Rotten tomatoes hacked? I thought it was slow and boring.
Nothing really happens except a bunch of mumbling and some shooting. Disappointed — Sjm8520
One of the best of 2016
Fantastic. Any American will appreciate this. Try to avoid descriptions and previews and just watch it. Bridges is at his best, with Pine in his best showing. Foster makes the movie though with his fearless approach. Enjoy! — aramis2764
OK I'm that guy who did not like it. Sorry. It was boring.
I wanted to like this, but I really did not. They try to make Jeff Bridges grizled old cop endearing, but I was put off by the racist remarks to his partner with little to no retort. This movie proves it is hard to make the midwest interesting. Long gazes off onto the horizon and long pauses between lines make for a boring movie. This is not a modern Shane, far from it. — Cameltrophy3
a Tour de force
one of the best movies this year — lillysand44
Bridges is like a Special Effect he is so good
How does this guy keep getting better? He is more real now than ever. It is just incredible to watch him. — ponte vecchio
I'll have the steak
I was skeptical when I started watching this movie but then I was very pleased. I would highly recommend people to rent or buy this. All the acting was great and I especially liked Jeff Bridges wily smart, laid back character, Chris Pines soft spoken/smart portrayal and Bens impulsive maverick bravado. I'm definitely going to buy this movie. — Chancefan
A Must See
This is a must see! Great performances, great script =5 Star Movie! — Tha' Truth
Watching this film reaffirmed my strong belief that Jeff Bridges is an American cinematic treasure. Chris Pine might be next. — gortmull
From beginning to end, a fantastic movie. Def watch! — Boarding99
Not bad, not great
Seemed a little flat. Maybe that was the point? It just didn't feel as dynamic or suspenseful as it could have. Not bad though. — CletusBrawleysGhost
Thoughtful, but not entertained
Character development was great to a point but the plot goes nowhere. I stopped watching half way through then came back to it and slugged it out for the end. Ug. Why. — trexmiller
No wonder this film did so well -- it's genius. Must see. Four stars. — Arman223
Good plot good action — Sirjinkz
Ok...so the actors in this movie are great. It's unfortunate they were thrown together into a movie with a slow moving pace that doesn't build any genuine tension. The characters, through the mumbling and sparse amount of dialogue, don't allow for us to really care as an audience about what happens to them. The ending is anticlimactic and predictable. Normally, I tend to find Rotten Tomatoes scores as fairly spot on but with this flick, they missed the mark big time. Way overrated. Should have mustered around a 60% or so if we're being fair here. — MillerTime78
Best Movie I have ever seen.
The plot and scenery was so good. And the story was damm good.Action are fast and so good.Never miss this movie worth of buying this movie.Waiting for part2 — MariamLovejoy
I never review movies
This was just such great writing and acting I had to comment. One of the best movies I've seen in years. — Gottabekiddinwth
The cast performance good and they did mumble. Had to turn up volume. Storyline OK and a good ending. But I don’t see best picture at all in this movie. I won’t watch again. — abbeyroad17
Great story it shows us while teaching us about capitalism and its' ways. — Madmaxx33
Fantastic! — Mat Simpkins
Jeff Bridges FTW
As a native west Texan, I grew up fond of these small, dusty towns in this movie. Naturally, some of the scenes (i.e., horse at a gas station) and plot aren't necessarily "realistic." However, the the actors and scenes of the long distant drives through the shrubby plains brought everything to life. Throughout this movie, Marcus (Jeff Bridge's character) felt like a friend, or someone I knew. In addition to a unexpected plot, this movie was made great by the most authentic acting of Jeff Bridges! — GabbiMorgan
I think most movies out today are not very good compared to previous decades and I’m not that old at 43, but while I was watching this there were a few times when I got that twinge of yep this will be considered one of the best films of the decade. It had the same complex characters on both sides of the law that we saw in films like Heat, which is one of my all-time faves. What was also great about this was the pacing of it made you feel like you it was set to the same odometer as Bridges’s sheriff but also the Texas lifestyle. This movie did everything No Country For Old Men was trying to do but better. Better suspense, better pacing, better characters, better humor. — Steve29
I gave it one star only because I cannot give it zero stars. Two hours of my life that I can never get back. The movie was endless mumbling and boredom. Save your $5.99 and go watch grass grow somewhere. It will be more interesting and you can use the money for a coffee. Just terrible. — Pug568
A Near Classic Western
I read a "trusted" review before watching this movie (bad idea on my part), and watched this anyway. Both my wife and I were knocked out by the acting, cinematography, direction, and the use of the terrain. The desolation of the towns was like an additional character. In classic form, the ending was sort of known early on in the movie. How the characters got to that ending, however, is what made this movie so watchable. If I had a negative to report, I'd say that Jeff Bridges chews on the scenery just a little bit too much. I'd like to see him act without sounding as if he has marbles in his mouth. Plus, his character's overt racism would not be tolerated in the Texas Rangers. How nice is it to root for the bad guys? — Mgsxps
Rented an it's not there. Refund — Russell0327992017
Real Texas - The Real Deal!
Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine & Ben Foster - Trifecta Oscars! I predict:"Picture of the Year" Cinematography- script - story - Excellent! A must see! — Soaringeagle123
4 outta 5 stars
A slightly more original movie that isn't quite as predictable as your normal Hollywood garbage. Solid acting, keeps you entertained and offers somewhat of a surprise ending. Perfect movie for anyone over 30 with an IQ above 100. — Ycycuvk36,
